Some knowledge of the principles of screening and of what it entails in practice should form part of the intellectual equipment of all concerned with the control of disease and the maintenance of health.
This report discusses how screening should be used effectively with good organisation and scientific evaluation so that it proves to be a benefit rather than a bane to the health of the population.
