The rapid development of psychiatric services within the NHS far outstripped any comparable development of psyshiatric education in the medical schools and teaching hospitals.
The resources in financial and human terms to the demand for psychiatric care are seen to be inadequate, and the gaps in training of those who have to provide care are wide and serious.
