This is the second working paper in the UK Global Health Programme and builds on earlier work to provide an overview of the intellectual and policy landscape around issues of health, foreign policy and security. It develops this work to frame questions for four further projects being undertaken by our partners at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine and the Department of International Politics at the University of Wales at Aberystwyth.

The initial conceptual framework and some of the background papers are provided by Kelley Lee and Colin McInnes. Harley Feldbaum, Preeti Patel and Owain Williams add contributions. These background papers cover: public health and security; health and foreign policy; security studies; health, development and security; the WTO, trade rules and global health security.
