The Nuffield Trust today (Wednesday 27 September 2017) announces the appointment of two further trustees, Rosie Benneyworth and Tara Donnelly.

Dr Rosie Benneyworth has experience as a clinical leader, senior manager and Non-Executive Director. She has worked in the NHS for 25 years [see note 1] and continues to practise as a GP in Somerset.  She is Vice Chair of the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) and is the GP adviser to the Somerset Sustainability and Transformation Partnership, where she also chairs the Local Maternity System. Dr Benneyworth’s work has given her a strong belief that the key to sustaining our health and care system lies in improving quality and ensuring excellent collaboration between all sectors to manage the growing demand on services

Tara Donnelly is Chief Executive of the Health Innovation Network which exists to accelerate the adoption of evidence-based improvement across the 12 boroughs, seven acute trusts, seven universities, three mental health trusts and three community trusts of south London, and the citywide ambulance service. Tara has a wealth of experience managing and leading NHS organisations and services [see note 2]. She writes and speaks on innovation and leadership and is both passionate and optimistic about the potential of improvement across our health system and the contribution digital innovation can make to transforming services for patients.

Welcoming Tara and Rosie to the Board of Trustees, Chair Andy McKeon says:

“I am delighted to announce the appointment of two further Trustees for the Nuffield Trust, Dr Rosie Benneyworth and Tara Donnelly.  Both Rosie and Tara have very broad experience of both health service development and delivery, including extensive experience in academic health science networks.  They bring contrasting expertise in care inside and outside of hospitals to the Board.

“Tara and Rosie are senior, successful figures who both have highly relevant recent experience in tackling the formidable current challenges facing the health service but remain optimistic about the potential to improve services for patients.  I look forward to working with them.”
